Well, we can all breathe easy again as the tourists have finally gone home. The high season has dissipated and with it the queues of traffic and in the supermarket. While Marbella and Puerto Banús in the summer are definitely fun and lively, it’s nice that the rhythm of life can return to usual as schools and businesses recommence their normal hours.
For many of us, this is the best time of year on the Costa del Sol. It is easier to move around as temperatures also return to more manageable levels, so how do we make the best out of this time of year?
1. Visit Málaga
We are so lucky to have this fabulous city on our doorstep, and with recent years of regeneration, it has become a real destination in its own right, rather than just a place to arrive in an airplane and then rush straight off to the coast. Visit the museums now the crowds have gone, the Picasso and the great new Museum of Málaga in particular are worth a look.
2. Take a wander round Puerto Banús
Without masses of people milling around, you find that you can actually see the fabulous boats and do some quiet window-shopping in the world-class designer boutiques. You could even get a pizza at Picasso’s without having to stand in a queue for half an hour.
3. Have a walk along the beach – or anywhere…
Physically impossible during the summer due to the hot sand and tanning tourists, it is a lovely time of the year to wander along the seashore. Long walks in general are now not only possible, they are very enjoyable with the pleasant autumn temperatures that we enjoy on the Costa del Sol – in fact, which we enjoy all year round!
4. Have a pleasant game of golf
A round of golf during the summer is strictly for the die-hards. The high heat in the middle of the day and the afternoon mean that golfers need to take care. However during autumn, temperatures are just about perfect for a leisurely stroll playing golf and taking in the gorgeous Costa del Sol scenery.
These are just touching the surface of possibilities for fun available in Marbella and its surroundings in the autumn.
