If you want to see just how much Puerto Banus has changed over the past 45 years, check out this short but incredible film footage shot by the RTVE Filmoteca unit in 1970.

As you’ll see in the film, apart from the control tower at the entrance to the Port, Puerto Banus in 1970 was almost totally unrecognisable from how it is today. None of the buildings around the marina had been built yet, the beaches either side were more or less untouched. There was no El Corte Ingles, no Marina Banus, none of the luxury apartment complexes such as Playas del Duque that exist today.

In fact, all there was back then were the facilities for the luxury boats, which is quite amazing when you consider that within just a few short years, Banus would be well on its way to becoming one of the leading holiday resorts in the world.

It’s a fascinating slice of history and well worth taking a look !
