There are many reasons why the demand amongst buyers for the apartments and penthouses for sale in Playas del Duque still remains strong after all these years, but without a shadow of a doubt the primary one is the development’s incredible location immediately next to the beach in Puerto Banus.

Playas de Duque beachside promenade

In fact, a security wall is all that separates the development from the beach, with a stylish glass security gate providing direct access out to a recently-built beachside promenade. As well as providing access to the sand and the sea, this promenade is one of the most popular places in Marbella in which to go walking/jogging/cycling.

Leaving Playas del Duque by its beach gate and turning left, the promenade will take you all the way – via the centre of Puerto Banus – to the heart of Marbella itself. It’s an idyllic walk which takes approximately 1.5 hours if you go at brisk, power-walking pace. Most people, though, would probably prefer to take things at a more leisurely pace and stop off to recharge the batteries at various points along the way.

There’s certainly no shortage of great places to rest your bones, enjoy a refreshing drink or two and sample some of the delicious seafood dishes Andalusia is famous for – and all of this whilst taking in the fabulous Mediterranean sea views. Most notable of the ‘Chiringuito-style’ beachside restaurants are the iconic Victor’s Beach Bar, Eddy and Marisa’s as well as the 5-star Marbella Club and Puente Romano hotels.

If you turn right out of Playas del Duque, however, and head west, you’ll pass two of the most exclusive spots in which to see and be seen in Marbella – the Ocean Beach and Sala Beach beach clubs.

You’ll also pass the 5-Star Hotel Guadalpin and Mistral Beach Club, plus a whole host of other first rate beach bars and restaurants before arriving at the beachfront of the neighbouring town of San Pedro, which again is home to several of the Marbella area’s best beachside restaurants and bars, including Alabardero, Nuevo Reino, Bora Bora and El Ancla seafood restaurants. In total, that’s approximately 20kms of beachfront promenade spanning the most elegant stretch of coastline to be found anywhere in southern Spain right on Playas del Duque’s doorstep !
